Inmersión
is Latinoamérica al Mundo’s
discipleship and short term
missions program. The first phase is 10 days of missions theory and simulation
of a cross cultural experience.
Rappel is
part of the
Inmersión training.
|
The training includes many learning
dynamics, one of which is the “Day of Faith.” The participants are taken to
small towns in groups of 3-4 people. They take no money and face the challenges
of finding the “man of peace,” sharing the gospel, finding a place to eat and a
place to spend the night. Then, the next morning, they are to return to a
designated meeting place 20 to 30 miles from the town. WOW!! The testimonies
they brought back of how they saw the Hand of God work were amazing! They
learned how God can open doors, provide, and use them in ways they never
imagined.

Other
dynamics included rappel that taught them to trust and to overcome their fears.
The participants discovered that with God they can do the unexpected.
Another night they were awakened at 3:00 am and were told that they had 50
minutes to get to the train station. They had to quickly pack all their
things. (They learned about packing light.) On the way they
encountered an officer who did not speak Spanish. He was suspicious of
this group of young people who were out in the night. He checked their
IDs. Three of the group did not have them and had to return to get their
identification. Later, they encountered someone who was injured and they
had to decide whether or not to help the person in need.
The
Inmersión accommodations
were rustic.

Many hours
were spent in the classroom studying cross-cultural ministry.
|
After 10 days of dynamic classes
the group has a week long cross-cultural experience in Mexico and then a trip to
the 10/40 window in the month of July. This year trips to India and Turkey are
being planned.
Inmersión
is designed so it can be held in different locations near the students. In
January of 2008 we plan to offer Inmersión here in Tlaxcala.
There have been 5 from Tlaxcala who have participated in the program. They will
be able to serve as part of the staff during the Tlaxcala training.

The next challenge for the
participants is the missions expedition in July. They will each need to raise
at least $2,500 US.
Can these Mexicans pull it off?
Seven
have already made their first deposit of $500.
Pray that God will provide their
every need.
